The McManus Art Gallery & Museum 

The McManus Art Gallery & Museum is one of Dundee’s premier art galleries and home to world-renowned artists, as well as a vast array of other works. It is located in Albert Square, Meadowside, Dundee DD1 1DA, only a short walk from the Victoria Memorial Square. The gallery houses two permanent collections: the McManus Collection of 20th century masters, and the McManus Family’s collection of 19th through 20th century paintings. The museum also hosts regular exhibitions from both local artists and international artists. It’s very easy to find, as it’s located on The Mall in Dundee; just look for the big green doors! The McManus Collection: 20th Century Masters

The McManus Collection of 20th century masters, is one of the most significant collections of modern art in Scotland. It was gathered by the McManus family between the 1950s and 1990s and features paintings by Pablo Picasso, Gustav Klimt, Cézanne, Mondrian, Francis Bacon, Andy Warhol, Jackson Pollock, and many other international artists. The collection, which is available for viewing by appointment only, is housed in the stunning 1876 McClay building of the McManus Art Gallery. The museum also boasts paintings by Scottish artists such as David Allan, William Auld, and Anthony van Dyck.


The McManus Family Collection: 19th-20th Century Paintings

The McManus Family Collection of 19th-20th century paintings is an incredibly diverse collection, featuring works from the Renaissance to Modern times. Visitors to the McManus can view masterpieces by artists including Rembrandt van Rijn, Claude Monet, and Paul Cézanne. The gallery also has 19th-century works by British artists such as John Constable, J.M.W. Turner, and William Auld. Works from the Danish Golden Age, notably from Hans Christian Andersen and Johannes Brahms, can also be viewed by museum visitors.

The McManus Prints Collection: Contemporary Artists

The McManus Prints Collection features prints by contemporary Scottish artists. The gallery’s collection of prints includes work by artists such as Alasdair Gray and Anne Devlin, as well as a historic collection of etchings. The gallery also features British artists, including Peter Howson and David Shrigley.
